Seger was a very special horse in my life, and unfortunately after a bout with illness he was injured and was humanely put down. This is my tribute to my special boy who now trots amongst the night sky and creates stars with each new hoofmark in the clouds...

Seger was actually registered as Cherry Uppers, and was sired by Supron and out of a mare named Cherry Wouldn't. Both of his parents has very nice racing careers, but he was just not a runner in his heart, I was gven him by his breeder and trainer after he retired from the track.

It was love at first sight when I first saw him trot out in that muddy pasture on that freezing cold day.... I loved the way he grunted as was his custom when moving along, and adored how he would patiently stand without being held as I loved on him out in that field that first day. I renamed him Seger, with his show name being AccompanyMe... I named him after my favorite Bob Seger song, and in such traditin he carried his name.

He was a very charming, sweet, and playful character... you would often find him playing on the nice cool spring days, and always in the company of his buddies. He did well in his training, and could have done anything I beleive. He tried very hard at whatever you asked him to do, and was always willing to trust me whenever he was unsure of something. his sweet, laid back, quiet disposition made it possible for even very small children to ride upon his back... he really seemed to enjoy children.

He passed away at around one o'clock PM on the afternoon of October 18, 2001. He will always be greatly missed.
